At the Racehorse Rescue Centre, our priority is always the wellbeing of our horses. While many will remain in our care for life, some rescued horses may become ready for rehoming once they have received thorough training and veterinary assessments to ensure they are suited to a new home. If a horse is not suitable for rehoming, they will always have a safe and loving home with us. Each rehomed horse is carefully matched with owners who can provide the care they deserve.

Application review
Your form will be assessed and if you might be able to offer a suitable home, you will be contacted and asked to enter into our Assessment Process. We will provide you at that stage with full details of the Assessment Process and copies of all the relevant documents.

Meet the horse
You will then be invited to meet the horse at our Centre to see if you click and to demonstrate your ability with horses.

Home visit
One of our team will carry out a home check where you intend to keep the horse. This is simply to check the site is suitable to meet the needs of the horse.

Rehoming paperwork
If you agree to take the horse on loan, you will be required to sign a Rehoming Agreement with us. You will also be asked to provide consent to us processing any special categories of data about you so we can monitor and support the rehoming. Provided you are happy to do so and that paperwork is completed, you can then take your horse home.

FAQs

• Will I own the horse?
  No, we retain the ownership of the horse. This means that we are able to safeguard its future wellbeing should your situation and circumstances change.
• Will my horse come with tack and rugs?
  No, as a charity we are unable to provide any equipment that your horse might need.
• Can you deliver the horse to me?
  Yes, transporting horses is a service that we can offer with a donation
• Do you charge a rehoming fee?
  Yes. Your rehoming fee will be used by us to show your commitment to rehoming and the ongoing care of the horse you are looking at providing a forever home to. The rehoming fee charged will go back into the charity allowing us to keep caring for our horses. The rehoming fee will be on the horse’s profile.
